KURT JACKSON ~ NEW EXHIBITION ~ Bees (and the Odd Wasp) in My Bonnet

Cornwall based Kurt Jackson has just opened his latest exhibition ~ Bees (and the Odd Wasp) in My Bonnet. I was lucky enough to have attended the private viewing last night, Friday 24th March, with my wonderful partner,  and our good friends Andy and Kim. We had a lovely evening viewing another wonderful display of Kurt’s paintings and artworks. With Kurt were special guests and speakers Dave Timms (Friends of the Earth England, Wales and Northern Ireland), Michael Eavis CBE (#B4 Project Patron and Glastonbury Festival Founder) and Andrew Brown (#B4 Project). HYGGE ~ HOO GA

                                                                                                     Sharing lovingly homemade cake under candle light – is hygge!

I have just come across the Danish word hygge pronounced hoo ga or hue-gah for which there appears to be no direct English translation – the closest interpretation is cosiness (a life of happiness and comfort with the ones we love) – having all home comforts – comforting food, drink by an open fire, warm glow of candlelight, fluffy throw, children’s laughter, a dog at your feet, desired art and cosy furnishings around you, shared moments with family and friends – treasured moments – having fun and living in the moment. In essence it means creating a pleasant and warm environment, enjoying the good things in life with good people around you. I’ll happily have some hygge!

KURT JACKSON FOUNDATION GALLERY ~ THEN ME!

I was lucky enough to visit Kurt Jackson’s gallery in St. Just yesterday with my wonderful neighbour, Kim, and we were not disappointed. I wish I had taken my camera to share with you some of his brilliant work, but as I failed to do so I suggest taking a look on his website – even better I suggest grabbing a moment to pop by yourself. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed either. Kurt’s paintings have such vibrancy and depth of movement you could almost believe that you were there – right in the picture. His seascapes glisten; the trees rustle in the wind; and you can almost hear the celebration of Glastonbury. You’ll know what I mean when you see them.

My studio will be opening very soon!

RE-OPENING OF MY ART STUDIO AND GALLERY SOON ~ FOWEY

After a quick clear out and opening the doors to my little studio a couple of weeks ago, I have finally decided to strip it out properly, redecorate and make it a little more user friendly – so I should be opening the doors again soon. In the meantime I shall keep on painting of a different sort – the chore bit – and soon painting again for pleasure with a fresh approach and more abstract.

THE EDEN PROJECT ~ AND HIDDEN ART

I heard on the radio this morning from our local station BBC Radio Cornwall that the Eden Project is celebrating fifteen years since opening. This sparked my memories of taking my daughters to the Eden Project many times over the years and all the hidden treasures we would find amongst the flora and the blooms of living artworks that danced in the wind.  And, of course, this is still the case today. The Eden Project is a continually growing and changing piece of spectacular artwork with contrasts of softness of the plants against the sculptural forms of the giant biomes. Where ever you go at Eden creativity, education and innovation excel – no wonder it is still a key attraction in Cornwall!
